We were not sure what that would look like but we knew we wanted to give our lives to serving Jesus and that we could do that through MAI. This past summer we married in May and felt God leading us to Charlotte and the MAI office there. We helped to lead an Eagles youth tour to Brazil in June and in September Stephen was able to join the pro team on a tour to Jamaica. We have also started the process of applying to join staff with MAI and are currently following God’s call to be involved with what the Eagles are doing in the inner-city of Charlotte.
There are 4 inner-city neighborhoods that the Eagles are invested in right now, where soccer ministry, tutoring, Bible studies, and English lessons take place. The ministry is called Urban Eagles. We have heard God calling us to move into one of these neighborhoods, which is a refugee apartment complex - Birchcroft. We are excited to begin living in the apartment complex to further reach the families and kids there for Christ. Our home will be a place where the kids will come for tutoring, Bible studies, and English classes as well as a place to just be loved. God is moving in a big way and we are thankful we are in His plans with the Urban Eagles.
A recent update on Stephen and Heather...
Heather and I wanted to send out an update letting you all know that we completed our move to Birchcroft Apartments at the beginning of November! God was so faithful and amazing all weekend and we were just blown away with all the support we received. We are so thankful for those of you who helped to make our transition so easy, especially the Sanford family for all the help on Saturday, the Myers family, and the Shak’s for all their support and prayers over our home.
